I Go Where You Go

I Go Where You Go

We are so happy to announce that our sophomore album, "I Go Where You Go" is officially out and available! I don't think our release show could have possibly been any more amazing! With the city of Saint John's support, we played to a sold out crowd at the iconic Imperial Theatre in the city's uptown. Not only were we on the best stage in the city - we were joined by our dream team of East Coast musicians who also lent their talents on our record: Ray Legere on fiddle and mandolin, Andrew Sneddon on dobro, Dillon Robichaud on banjo, and Remi Arsenault on bass.  Both Dillon and Remi also play in Moncton's beloved honkey tonk band (and one of our faves!!), The Backyard Devils. Check them out here

There is no way we could have achieved filling that theatre without our generous sponsors: 97.3 The Wave, Country 94, Sussex Beard Oil Merchants, Duncan's Electrical Ltd., and Kents Building Supplies

I don't know when we will come down from this exhilaration. Saint John, you have filled our hearts. As for future dates, we have release shows coming up in Halifax (June 18th at The Company House), Fredericton (July 14th at Corked Wine Bar), and you can keep track of our festival appearances on our tour page here.

We also have a brand new video up for the album's first single, "Ain't Dead Yet" on our youtube channel! Check it out right here :) The video was done by Jordan Mattie Visuals and features our studio and home at Porchlight Studios as well as some sweet venues like The Mack Theatre in PEI and the Saint John Theatre Company's BMO Studio Theatre in uptown Saint John. Let us know what you think!

Thank you all for all of your love and support! We really wanted to give everyone an experience at our release show...turns out, you gave it to us...and we will never forget it!

Much love,

Lisa & John

For immediate release:

Saint John folk/roots duo Tomato/Tomato celebrates the release of their sophomore album with a full-band performance at the Imperial Theatre June 9 at 7:30PM.

The new album, entitled I Go Where You Go, builds on their signature blend of high energy foot stompers and traditional folk. Husband and wife team John and Lisa McLaggan opted for a live approach for the disc, bringing some of Atlantic Canada’s top bluegrass players into the studio.

Internationally acclaimed fiddle/mandolin player Ray Legere, dobro sensation Andrew Snedden, and The Backyard Devils’ Dillon Robichaud and Remi Arsenault all performed on the album, and will join Tomato/Tomato for the CD release.

“It’s an all-star band of East Coast bluegrass players, all on one stage,” says Lisa McLaggan. “It’s worth the price of admission just to see those guys play – they’re spectacular musicians.”

“This will be a chance for us to recreate our new album in a live setting, as well as perform some of our favorites from the first album,” adds John McLaggan. “The opportunity to launch the album at the Imperial Theatre will be a special treat.”

Tickets for Tomato/Tomato’s CD release are $27.00, are available at the Imperial Theatre Box Office. The event is brought to you by The Wave, Country 94, and Tomato/Tomato Music.

Spring is in the air!

Spring is in the air!

Who else still has their snow tires on? Instead of hibernating all winter, we were on the road and finishing our upcoming release, "I Go Where You Go".  Winter touring can certainly have it's stresses - but we successfully drove to Halifax, PEI, and flew to Quebec! We had an awesome time playing back to back shows at The Company House in Halifax and played at the beautiful Mack Theatre in PEI.  We took part in the Dead of Winter Festival in Wakefield, QC and performed at the legendary Black Sheep Inn. We watched our suitcase with the washboard, tambourine, pedals, merch, and Lisa's bass drum all get wheeled away from the plane before it took off.  After a quick cry, we were scrambling and calling pawn shops prepared to find any washboard we could get our hands on before Air Canada came through with all of our things - and we were still on time for sound check! Needless to say, we got a quick initiation into winter tour life in Canada!  We finished up March with a sold out album preview show right in our home city of Saint John, NB at the BMO Theatre!  And speaking of our's done! We had Ray Legere, Andrew Sneddon, Dillon Robicheau, and Remi Arsenault (of the Backyard Devils) all in our studio to record live!  We also had special guests guitarist, Mark Hill and cellist, Kaitlyn Raitz join us on a few tracks. We will be announcing all of the exciting details about our release and tour dates shortly so stay tuned! But we CAN tell you that they're here and they look amazing thanks to Jessica Rhaye Design and Kate Braydon Photography.

April brought us to Mahone Bay, NS for the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society Folk Fiesta! We shared the stage with Dave Gunning and Halifax-based folk/pop group, Hillsburn. So now that spring is on the horizon - that means it's ECMA season and we are headed to Sydney, NS for some showcases, networking, and reunions with music friends! You can see us perform in Cape Breton on:

April 15th - Rising Star Showcase, 11:30pm

April 15th - Warner Music Roots Room - 12:30am

April 16th - Bluebird North (hosts) - 7:05pm

We'll also be on CBC Weekend Mornings chatting with Bill Roach on Saturday morning (the 16th) so be sure to tune in!

Lots of festival dates have been added to our calendar...including the WINNIPEG FOLK FESTIVAL! (what?!?) So check our tour page often and see where we're headed!

Hope to see you soon!

Peace and love,

Lisa & John

Hello 2016!

Hello 2016!

Thank you all for an amazing 2015!

After a busy holiday season, we are taking a minute to reflect back on the year and wanted to share our gratitude with you all! We realize that we had many successes, picked ourselves up during our struggles, and drank more coffee than we'd like to admit. Shout out to Tim Horton's, Java Moose, Second Cup, and all the random gas stations for all of the caffeine throughout the year :) We thought we'd give you all a "highlight reel" of the things you helped us accomplish and the things that are most memorable. We couldn't have done any of the following without all of you goes....(drum roll.......)

- We were thrilled to receive an ECMA nomination for folk/roots album of the year and get to travel to St. John's Newfoundland. Yes, we got screeched in while in Newfoundland :)

- We still can't believe we got a whopping SIX Music/Musique New Brunswick nominations and took home THREE wins for group recording of the year, folk artist of the year, and SOCAN Song of the Year. The whole weekend was so positive and it was very apparent how our province is oozing with talent as well as support for said talent oozing.

- One of the best parts of being a musician – all the music! We got so inspired by sharing stages with fellow musicians and friends like The Backyard Devils, Old Man Leudecke, Coco Love AlcornIan Sherwood, Ashley Condon, Breabach, and Kat McLevey. Have you all heard all of them? You need to. Like...since you're making new years resolutions, right?

- We had a busy summer too. Summer = festival season! Thank you to everyone that included us in your line ups! Shout outs to In the Dead of Winter, Festival of Small Halls, Harvest Jazz and Blues, Neely G, and Larlee Creek Hullabaloo! Thank you for having us!

- When Jeff Reilly (producer of East Coast Music Hour) invited us to host the show for two weeks while David Myles was on tour, we pinched ourselves! Thank you so much for tuning in.

- We got to be on TV – twice! Before heading to St. John's, we were guests on CTV Atlantic Morning Live and while in NL, we filmed for CBC's Heavy Weather Volume 4, which featured Maritime artists. That whole experience was amazing. It takes so many people to make tv stuff happen. And all of those people were seriously amazing.

- We played over 60 shows and showcases that took us to all the Atlantic provinces from Saint Andrews, NB to St. Johns, Newfoundland and everywhere in between. We flew on airplanes, drove all over Eastern Canada, took a ferry, and had a tour in Nova Scotia. To all of those who attended or supported our shows – thank you!!!

- Porchlight Studios has been busy too! John recorded/produced some amazing bands throughout the year including: Earthbound Trio, Mike Biggar, and Leo Lefleur.

Cheers to making even more music in 2016! We are currently working on our upcoming album to be released THIS spring! We got to preview all of the new music live at a sold out house concert right here in our studio and can't wait to get the album into your hands.
Extra hugs to our manager, Chuck Teed, and John's parents - Debbie and Wayne. It really does take a village. Go team!

So that's a wrap for 2015! Check out our Tour page to see where we're headed next...shows have been announced in New Brunswick, Halifax, PEI, and Quebec! Hope to connect and cross paths with you all in the coming months! Thank you again for all of your support. It means the world.

Much love,

John & Lisa
